Mevo follows the Ministry of Health's guidelines regarding preventative measures to help protect the safety and wellbeing of members who use our vehicles while operating under the COVID-19 Protection Framework.

Vaccine Pass Requirement

All Mevo staff are and must be fully vaccinated. Any contractors or suppliers who work with our vehicles must also be fully vaccinated.

All members driving Mevo vehicles must be fully vaccinated. This reduces the likelihood of airborne transmission of the virus within the vehicle cabin and keeps everyone using the vehicles safer.

You'll also need to certify that you will ensure your passengers are fully vaccinated where eligible, and that you won't use Mevo if you suspect or have been confirmed to have been in contact with COVID-19 (e.g. to get a COVID test).

If you haven't verified your vaccination status in the Mevo app you'll be unable to reserve or unlock Mevo vehicles until you do.

This is an extra layer of protection to keep you, other Mevo members, and our staff as safe as possible. Our vehicles are used frequently and don't have downtime between each rental, or before our staff may need to interact with them. Requiring proof of vaccination ensures the highest possible level of safety for others using the vehicles, as fully vaccinated individuals are much less likely to have a severe case of COVID-19.

You must also follow all of the directions in the table below in accordance with the local setting of the Traffic Light Framework (What You Must Do).

Verifying Your Vaccine Pass

You can upload a photo or screenshot of the New Zealand Government My Vaccine Pass in the Mevo app to verify your vaccination status automatically. See instructions here β†’

We will not store the pass itself; only the expiry date of your vaccination status.

We may accept other forms of evidence on a case-by-case basis, where these are in line with public health advice.

Vehicle Cleanliness

In areas where the traffic light is orange 🟧 or red πŸŸ₯ Mevo vehicles will:

  • Be supplied with isopropyl alcohol wipes for cleaning surfaces, and a disposal envelope for the wipes. Members will take their disposal envelopes with them at the end of their trip.

  • Have all commonly-touched surfaces regularly wiped down with alcohol-based disinfectant, and be ventilated by opening the doors.
This is performed every time a vehicle is attended - not just at its scheduled cleaning interval. Timelines will vary per vehicle but between relocating, refuelling/charging, and regular cleaning, many available vehicles will be cleaned every day.

At periods other than green we suspend our participation in local events – so you won’t see our brand ambassadors at markets, events, and community gatherings.

What You Must Do

At each colour of the traffic light system, you must do the following:

🟩 Green

  • Be fully vaccinated, and upload a photo or screenshot of your Vaccine Pass in the Mevo App for verification.

  • Only carry passengers who are also fully vaccinated (excluding where they are ineligible, e.g. children under 12 years of age).

  • Not use Mevo if you have COVID-19 symptoms, or if you suspect or have been confirmed to be in contact with COVID-19.

  • Scan into the COVID Tracer QR code on the dashboard of each Mevo vehicle you drive using the NZ Covid Tracer app.

🟧 Orange

In addition to requirements for green:

  • Use the supplied alcohol wipes to disinfect the commonly touched surfaces in the vehicle before ending your trip, and take the wipes with you for disposal.

πŸŸ₯ Red

In addition to the requirements for green and orange:

  • Wear a face covering at all times whilst using the vehicle, and ensure your passengers do the same.

You must let us know if you or any of your passenger(s) have become ill or have a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19.
We will ensure safety and contact tracing procedures are carried out.

We continuously monitor the situation and our team is available 24/7 to support public health authorities in their response. Working with them, we may temporarily suspend the accounts of members confirmed to have contracted or been exposed to COVID‑19. We will take any vehicle offline for extensive cleaning should we become aware that it has been exposed to persons who have been exposed to COVID-19.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or feedback regarding the COVID-19 virus and our protocols.
