All Mevo vehicles have vehicle insurance and third party cover. When you're on the road with Mevo, you're covered with a $1500 excess—lower than most rental cars ($3000 for non-NZ licence holders). Our insurance is subject to exclusions outlined in our T&Cs.

Can I reduce my excess?

At this time we only offer one insurance option for standard bookings. We do currently offer a reduced excess option for longer trips as part of our EV Rental deal:


Do I need to inspect my Mevo for damage on starting trip?

Yes, this should be the first thing you do when you arrive at your Mevo. Damage reporting can be done in-app and is super quick & easy. Check out our guide for instructions:

What happens if I'm involved in an accident?

After you have contacted emergency services and/or our support team we will ask you to complete an incident form as soon as possible. Each vehicle carries claim forms in the glovebox. No excess is charged if you are not fount to be at fault and you can continue to use your Mevo account provided there is no criminal investigation or excess payment outstanding.
